"Eating w/ Clay the Cat" is a three part zine exploring cuisines from various countries including Japan, Indonesia and Hong Kong. In this series I aim to capture various dishes and snacks from each country, using Clay as a commentator to educate young readers. I’ve always believed that food is a great way to understand and get in touch with a culture. My passion for food stems from the idea that eating is personal experience that can be shared with others. The hand-drawn quality has a personal, imperfect look that feels human and approachable to create a meaningful connection with the reader. This series could be expanded to other countries as Clay travels the world, the short handmade zine could be easily reproduced to serve as a food guide for curious visitors.
